Using this Web Site

The Flash 7 or higher player is required for this site.

If you are experiencing problems viewing or navigating through thumbnails, you may need to upgrade to Netscape 6.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

If you are using AOL and the images appear to be fuzzy or out-of-focus, you will need to change a setting that does not compress images. Follow the directions in the right-hand column of this screen.

If you are still experiencing trouble, contact the webmaster (TechSupport@HandSpunDigital.com).

Changing AOL Settings

In an attempt to speed up your online experience, AOL has a default setting that compresses a website's images. The user unknowingly is subject to a much poorer quality website than the designer intended - blurry, jaggy photos, blotchy, muddy color, etc.

To change this setting in AOL and see things as designed:

  1. Go into the "Settings" button in AOL's top menu (on the Mac, it may be called "My AOL").
  2. Select "Preferences", then click "WWW". On a PC, click the tab that says "Web Graphics"
  3. Then choose the option "Never Compress Graphics". On a Mac, you'll then see several checked boxes.
  4. Start AOL again, and experience the web the way it was designed to look.

Also AOL has stored images in its "cache" as another way to speed up your dial-up experience. Anytime you revisit a site, AOL refers to the cache instead of downloading the new, original content. This means that you are very likely viewing old content.

You can refresh (or reload) the screen by clicking the circular arrow icon at the top left of your AOL window, or by hitting F5 on your PC. Or, to clear your cache, follow the above instructions and click the button that lets you delete your temporary internet files. This will cause AOL to seek out the most recent content, not an outdated page.
