During my work on the book, "The Art of the Canoe with Joe Seliga", I shot with film and all in color with the exception of one session where I knew the scene begged for black and white. The process of "steaming ribs" is involved and intense both physically and mentally for the builder. When I later showed Joe Seliga this image (which is my favorite of the entire project) he auspiciously said with a twinkle in his eye, "Oooh, I look like I am in the clouds, like I am in heaven".
