Last weekend was the 50 on 50th Art Show in Minneapolis. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend!
For me the show was a great success and I had such a wonderful time being surrounded by amazing talent and creative energy. The place was just buzzing with customers and viewers who really seemed to appreciate the depth and variety of work at the show. Being surrounded by this kind of appreciation and energy just feeds my desire to want to do more and better work! Thank you again to all who came!
For those of you who missed the show, please feel free to visit my ONLINE STORE where you can see just about everything that I had at the show. Call me (218-365-3077) or email if you have questions about ordering items via the store.

Living In The Balance; Burntside Lake
The 2009 Greenstone Juried Art Show & Sale is happening this coming weekend!
I am excited to share news that three of my photographs were chose to be in this years show and, along with many other artist’s work, will be for sale during the event. Held at Miner’s Dry (across from the Grand Ely Lodge), this wonderful event is open to the public on Saturday, July 18, 6-9 PM, with the Auction at 7:30. Tickets are $25 each. Make reservations at 235-1912 or 365-5917. Come enjoy a social and artistic atmosphere with wonderful food and drink!
Here is a preview of the three images of mine which will be shown and for sale at the show. Each image is custom framed and ready to hang wherever that special place is that you have in mind.
The image size of “Angle of Repose” and “Living In The Balance” is 7″x7″ framed in a 16″x20″ double thick snow white mat and framed in a sleek black wood moulding. Price for each print s $295. Both images were made last summer while I was on a personal retreat on Burntside Lake. I used my medium format Hasselblad camera and they are made with film! Of course I did all the printing myself as is the case with all my fine art photography.

Calm After The Storm; Wilson Lake, Quetico Provincial Park
“Calm After The Storm” is a panorama image with the image size of 5.5″x14″ framed in a 12″x24″ snow white mat and framed in a sleek black metal moulding. Price for this print is $165. This image was made this past May while on an extended canoe trip in the Quetico Provincial Park of Ontario. I used my Nikon D3 digital camera which is my workhorse for my portrait work and I am using it a bit more now with my nature photography as well. If you have any questions about the works, please feel free to contact me.

Angle of Repose; Burntside Lake
The “Art of the Canoe” exhibit has formally opened its doors to the public at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona, MN. This show is not to be missed and runs from April 7-August 22, 2009 (exhibit is closed July 15-18th for the Minnesota Beethoven Festival).

Formal invitation to the Art of the Canoe Exhibit
The exhibit celebrates the history, design and development of Minnesota built canoes.
Featured are historic and contemporary canoes and art from the collections of Linda and Mike Chicanowski of the We-no-nah Canoe Company.

Art of the Canoe Exhibit at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum
In addition to some of my canoe imagery in photographs are other artist’s original works & photography plus hand-built canoes from renowned Minnesota canoe builders Joe Seliga, Jeanne Bourquin (also of Ely!) and beautiful wood paddles from Whiskeyjack Paddles.
Museum and membership information is available at www.minnesotamarineart.org
So consider taking a worthwhile road trip this spring or summer down to southern Minnesota along the beautiful river valley to Winona, MN. I know I will! I’ll even bring my canoe and dip the paddle in the water.
